The Rapace GTX is a lightweight summer mountaineering boot that teams a hard-wearing nubuck and fabric upper with waterproof and breathable GORE-TEX® protection.

Secure grip meets comfort and support – SALEWA’s solution for via ferratas and summer mountaineering. The Rapace GTX features our 3F System for ankle support, flexibility and a perfect fit. Its Vibram Wrapping Thread Combi (WTC) outsole has an aggressive tread pattern that gives good traction, yet provides a natural feel and secure grip on rock.

Inside the boot, SALEWA’s Bilight technology in the midsole ensures an ergonomic hold and long-lasting cushioning for extended comfort. The Rapace GTX is also stiff enough for use with hybrid/semi-automatic crampons. In addition, the GORE-TEX® Performance Comfort lining delivers optimized climate comfort should the weather close in on you and there’s a full rubber rand for protection against rock and scree.

TECHNOLOGIES:

Gore-Tex

GORE-TEX® fabrics lead the industry of technical clothing in the provision of waterproof protection, breathability and durability. The GORE-TEX® membrane is completely water- and windproof and at the same time allows sweat to pass through it. The membrane is formed by pores (over 9 billion pores per square inch) which are 20,000 times smaller than a drop of water, but 700 times larger than a water vapour molecule preventing water penetration and helping the skin breathe. Resistance tested in the lab, simulating the most extreme atmospheric conditions.

3F System

The trademark SALEWA 3F System connects the instep area of the shoe with the sole and heel; ensuring flexibility, support and the correct fit where it’s needed.

MFF + Multi-fit footbed

In order to achieve a better anatomical fit, the MFF + templates incorporating two removable layers that can regulate its height. * The templates are included separately in the box.

Climbing Lacing

A more accurate system cords in correspondence with the fastening point and ensures better performance.

Flex Collar

The Flex Collar increases the ankle‘s rear range of motion and comfort during descents, thanks to a curved shape that follows the plantar flexion of the ankle.
